Mariam works with clients to bring meaning to their day to day, while also providing therapy that is based on exploring client insights and their emotional world. She helps clients diminish bothersome thoughts and behaviors and to promote self-awareness and improved interpersonal skills. She strongly believes in the uniqueness of each individual, which is why she uses an integrative approach, pulling from cognitive behavioral, family systems, and mindfulness-based approaches as well.
Mariam has experience treating trauma, anxiety, phobias, OCD, depression, ADHD, parent-child conflict, and behavioral issues. As a Pakistani-American, she has a strong interest in working with immigrant and minority populations. Mariam is inclusive in her work, ensuring that therapy is a safe space for any person who identifies with any marginalized group. Her goal in therapy is to provide a safe, trustworthy environment so that together with the client they can identify contributing factors and start the healing process.
Why Mariam Became a Therapist
From a young age, I have had a strong sense of justice and the right to live contently. I believe that creating spaces where we can feel heard and understood is critical for our well-being. I love hearing people’s stories and learning from each of my clients.
How Mariam Lives Authentically
I take time to self-reflect and to be honest with myself.
“Everywhere there was once a lie inside of you, there is now a truth that enhances the connection between you and yourself”
